Diabetes and Endocrine Education and Research Trust was established in 2015 at the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Services Institute of Medical Sciences by the decision of Board of Management (BOM), Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) / Services Hospital Lahore (SHL) as a center to promote the cause of diabetes treatment, education and research.

To promote the cause of diabetes and endocrine care through high quality research, education and training of high quality healthcare professionals.
Vision
Ensuring a better life for patients with diabetes and endocrine diseases through education and research
The DEER trust objectives focuses on control and prevention of the diseases like diabetes and endocrine disorders (including obesity) through education, training, research, awareness camps and other dissemination / community engagement activities in health professionals and youth as well as in general community. Following are the specific objectives of the organization as described in the Bye laws:
- i. To advance the understanding of diabetes and endocrine diseases by education of people with diabetes and endocrine diseases, the health professionals and others who care for them, and the general public;
- ii. To promote and fund research related to the causes, prevention and cure of diabetes and endocrine diseases and into improvements in the management of the condition and its complications; and to publish the useful results of any such research.
- iii. To encourage, promote, support, disseminate and underpin education regarding diabetes and endocrine diseases.
- iv. To establish, build, aid, assist, set-up, manage, maintain, administer and run institutions of learning and/or practical training and institutions for the promotion of welfare of patients with diabetes and endocrine diseases.
- v. To encourage, promote, support or arrange symposia, seminars, lectures, classes, demonstrations and exhibitions
- vi. To bring about publications that will help promote awareness on material issues related to diabetes and endocrine diseases
